About Your Tour Guide

Hullo, I’m Darryl, a proud Scot and I bide in the beautiful Kingdom of Fife and I would be delighted to show you aroond the place. 

Whether this is your first time to Scotland and you wish to see the landmarks,  tak the less trodden paths, or a bit o’ baith, nothing could please me mair.

Once we were a land of fierce fighting fowk, from the painted faced Picts tae the rebellious battle hardy clans. Time and oor relationship wi royalty, religion and England changed ah o that. Battlefields, Claymores and Royal Standards are no longer needed to show we are Scottish. It has been replaced wi makin pals wherever we go and welcoming visitors like oor lang lost kin. 

With Day Tours Scotland, I will share with you my favourite stories thit shaped Scotland. We'll visit bonny places that will capture your heart and you'll  find hospitality that will mak you feel like you’ve arrived hame.

In St Andrews, enjoy a guided walk through the town’s historic streets. See highlights such as the Old Course, university buildings, cathedral and castle ruins, with the option to visit West Sands beach.


Continue along the Fife coast through picturesque villages including Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans and Elie. Explore colourful harbours, winding lanes and coastal viewpoints, with time for lunch, local seafood or a café stop.

Travel through centuries of Scottish history on a private tour of three of Fife’s most important historic places.


Explore Dunfermline, Scotland’s ancient capital, and see the abbey where Robert the Bruce is buried. Walk through the heritage quarter, with the option to visit Pittencrieff Park or discover the story of Andrew Carnegie.


Continue to Culross, a beautifully preserved village of cobbled streets and historic houses overlooking the River Forth. Hear stories of local life, trade and industry while discovering locations used in film and television.


Complete the journey in Falkland, a traditional village with strong royal connections. Explore its historic streets, see Falkland Palace from the village and enjoy time for lunch or refreshments.

 Journey from Fife into Highland Perthshire on this extended private tour through historic villages, wooded glens and dramatic countryside.


Begin in Falkland before visiting the striking medieval ruins of Balvaird Castle. Continue north to Dunkeld for a riverside walk, its historic cathedral and stories of early Scottish kings and saints.


At the beautiful village of Aberfeldy, there is an option to enjoy a woodland walk through the landscape that inspired Robert Burns. Choose between a shorter stay or the full 1½–2-hour circular walk, which includes steep sections and steps.


Continue to Fortingall to see its ancient yew tree and hear the folklore surrounding this remarkable place. Return south through the Sma’ Glen or Glen Quaich, depending on road and weather conditions.


This extended tour lasts approximately 8½–9½ hours and includes around four hours of driving. The itinerary and walking time can be adapted to suit the group.

 The Fife Pilgrim Way follows a medieval route once walked by thousands of pilgrims travelling to the magnificent St Andrews Cathedral. Today, we can experience this symbolic journey in a single day, visiting some of the sacred places and landscapes that pilgrims would have encountered during their seven-day journey across the Kingdom of Fife.  


Beginning with Culross we will journey to  Dunfermline Abbey, home to the shrine of St Margaret. Travel through central Fife to Markinch, where pilgrims may have rested at St Drostan’s Church, before continuing to the historic village of Ceres.


The journey ends in St Andrews, where pilgrims travelled to visit the relics of Scotland’s patron saint. Enjoy a short walk into the town and finish beside the cathedral ruins.


The itinerary will be adapted to your pick-up location and pace. Admission to paid attractions is not included.

Coast, Villages & Hidden Fife

Leave the busiest visitor routes behind and discover Fife’s quieter coastal communities on a relaxed private tour.


Begin in North Queensferry with views of the three Forth bridges before travelling east through historic harbours and traditional villages. Possible stops include Aberdour, Dysart Harbour and West Wemyss, where maritime industry and coal mining helped shape local life.


Continue to Lower Largo, the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, whose adventures inspired Robinson Crusoe. Complete the journey around Elie and Earlsferry, with their sandy beaches, harbour and attractive village streets.


The itinerary is flexible, with time for short walks, photographs and refreshments. Stops will depend on your interests, pace, weather and pick-up location. Admission to paid attractions and specialist visits to the Wemyss Caves are not included.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN TOURS

GROUP SIZE


Up to eight passengers, depending on luggage and mobility requirements.


TOUR LENGTH & DAYS


Tour length is stated in each tour option. Tours are available Monday to Sunday, depending on availability.


PAYMENT


Payment can be made by PayPal or bank transfer. A 25% deposit is required to secure your chosen date, with the remaining balance due 14 days before the tour.


ACCESSIBILITY


Tours can be adapted for guests with lower mobility where possible, including shorter walking distances, slower-paced stops and accessible locations. The vehicle is a Toyota Proace Verso with comfortable passenger space, but it does require a step up to enter. Unfortunately, the vehicle is not wheelchair accessible.


WHAT TO BRING


Please bring comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, water, any medication you may need, and a sense of curiosity.


MEALS AND ENTRY FEES


Meals, refreshments and attraction entry fees are not included in the tour price unless agreed in advance. Guests are welcome to bring food with them, or we can plan stops at cafés, restaurants or local food spots along the route.


CANCELLATION POLICY


The 25% deposit is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled within 7 days of the tour. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour will be charged 50% of the total tour price.


WEATHER


Tours usually go ahead in most weather conditions, but routes and stops may be adjusted to keep the day safe, comfortable and enjoyable.


SAFETY AND PEACE OF MIND


Your comfort and safety are taken seriously. The vehicle is insured for private tours and transfers, and public liability insurance is also in place. The vehicle is maintained and checked regularly, and tours are planned with care so the day feels relaxed, safe and enjoyable.

Fife: £185-£200

Angus: £225–£250


Transfers to or from Glasgow Airport are an additional £25.

Transfers to or from Prestwick Airport are an additional £40.


Flight delays and airport waiting time are included for the first hour. After this, waiting time is charged at £45 per hour.
